The International Finance Corporation (IFC) Colombo serves as the country office for the global corporation, overseeing operations within Sri Lanka. From the very outset of the design process, the focus was on creating a space that prioritizes both security and functionality to meet the high standards of a prestigious international organization.
Situated in a mid-rise building with stunning views of Beire Lake, the office premises offer an inspiring setting. The country head’s office, strategically positioned to face the captivating Colombo skyline, maximizes the city’s beauty and the surrounding landscape.
The client's brief was clear: elevate the existing main lobby to reflect the sophistication and professional image of IFC. To achieve this, the design introduced the warm elegance of timber and the transparency of glass, creating a modern yet inviting atmosphere. These materials blend seamlessly with the building’s architectural elements, offering a sophisticated and functional entry point for visitors and staff alike.
The boardroom, a key element of the office design, was crafted with privacy and security as paramount considerations. Acoustically modified fabric panels were incorporated to ensure superior sound insulation, providing an environment conducive to confidential discussions and strategic meetings. These materials, combined with advanced technology and design, ensure the highest levels of discretion and comfort during important corporate interactions.
The overall design of IFC Colombo’s office is a reflection of the company’s values—innovation, professionalism, and global connectivity—while offering a secure, functional, and aesthetically pleasing environment for its team and clients.
